To whomever is reading this:

I will begin my first year of college this fall at a private, liberal arts institution. I am female, Mexican, and a first-generation college student. Essentially, I am the epitome of a minority, especially at the predominately white and wealthy school I will attend.

The purpose of this blog is to speak about my struggles as a first-gen college student and to give advice on how to best handle situations, specifically those that minorities will face in college. I will also create a list of everything I bought to prepare myself for the rigor of college. By the end of my freshman year, I will revisit the list and highlight the essentials. Once classes begin, I will make posts about note-taking, organization, and time-management, as I believe those are all important skills for success.
